JoAnn founded Financial Security Group in 1999 with the intent of becoming a one stop business where clients could find answers to the issues that concerned them during their retirement or pre-retirement years. JoAnn began her career working for a CPA firm in Texas. The firm specialized in tax and estate planning for wealthy Texas farmers and ranchers.  She discovered a passion for these areas and furthered her education by attending the University of Texas, majoring in accounting and business, fully paid for by the CPA firm she worked for. A few years later, she became an IRS Enrolled Agent, a federally authorized tax practitioner with technical expertise in taxation and empowered by the US Treasury Department to represent taxpayers.  She also became a Registered Investment Advisor to better serve her clients in the areas of wealth management and investment advice.

She moved to Arizona in 1995 and began starting working with a company specializing in Estate and Financial Planning.
